Jesus - the Living Water! by Brenda Peitzman

Water.  It’s essential for life.  Water makes up about 60% of our body.  Water makes up the majority of the blood that flows through our veins to bring oxygen to our vital organs to keep us alive.  Water is a lubricant for our joints so we can move about on this planet.  Water flushes out wastes and impurities.  Water is a shock absorber for our brains.  Water sustains life.

Imagine you are stranded in a desert.  All alone.  Unable to find food or water.  Sweating from the hot summer sun.  Scientists tell us that the body can survive three weeks or more without food.  But we cannot survive much longer than three days without water.  Strength drains.  Joints dry up.  Organs are deprived of oxygen and eventually the heart muscle comes to a halt.  Life is gone.

In the same way, many Christian women are stranded in deserts.  Hard seasons of life.  Seasons where we isolate.  Seasons where we are stuck in places where God seems so far away.  And we stop drinking from the living water.  Vitality wanes.  Strength is zapped.  Desire for Spiritual things is gone.  Eventually, our hearts become hard and cold and dead.

“For in Him we live and move and exist.”  Acts 17:28

In Him!  Jesus made a way to thrive in those desert seasons.  Jesus made a way to have life.  Jesus made a way to know Him intimately.  Jesus, the living water!

“You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.”

In the same way, no one can make you drink the living water.  No one can force you to come to Jesus.  But in the resistance, your life will come to a halt.  For only in Him will you be able to live and move and exist!  What is keeping you from drinking of the living water today?

Jesus said, ‘I am the living water.  If you drink from Me, you will never thirst again.’  John 4:14

Maybe you are in that desert place today.  Please come to THE FOUNTAIN!  This is a night of praise and worship for women in our city.  A night to gather with women from all backgrounds and walks of life to lift up the name of Jesus.  You will find life in Jesus.  You will be refreshed and renewed.  You will hear grace stories from women just like you.  Women who have struggled.  Women who have been rescued.  Women whose desperation turned them to the only One who has the power to save.  Women who now have life through Jesus, the living water!

Spoiler alert – Laine Mendenhall-Buck attends Valley Church and she will be sharing about her journey with Jesus!
